Vineet Chopra, MBBS, MD, MSc, is the Robert W. Schrier Chair of Medicine and professor of medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He previously served as chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine at Michigan Medicine. A career hospitalist, Dr. Chopra’s research and clinical interests are dedicated to improving the safety of hospitalized patients through prevention of hospital-acquired complications. His work focuses on identifying and preventing complications associated with central venous catheters, with a particular emphasis on peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC). He is first author of the Michigan Appropriateness Guide for Intravenous Catheters (MAGIC), criteria that establish the appropriateness of IV device use and are in use in hundreds of hospitals across the U.S. and the world.
