Lee Steere, RN, CRNI, VA-BC has been managing the (VAT) at Hartford Hospital (HH) for 18+ years. Over the past 8 years, Lee’s team has quadriple in size, by demonstrating better patient outcomes utilizing a specialty team approach. With this expansion, the team has been able to take on a lot of additional work that demonstrates value to patients and the organization, while giving time back to bedside nursing. Lee continues to promote the expansion of specialty teams across all entities associated with Hartford Healthcare. This has recently led the development of a team at 3 of their other acute care facilities. Lee is a member of the hospital’s HAI committee and is one of the clinical dyads for the HHC Patient Care Clinical Value Team. Lee has spoken at multiple local and national infusion/vascular access conferences and currently working on another study around PIV insertions using a bundled approach.
