Angela Alderman is a Unit Director and Vascular Access Specialist for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Carilion Children's Hospital. Throughout her 23 year career in the NICU she has cared for critically ill neonates. Angela started as a neonatal PICC nurse in 2002 and expanded her practice to pediatrics in 2017. Her primary focus is Neonatal Vascular Access, CLABSI reduction, decreasing venous depletion and hospital acquired bacteremia. Through her work on a Neonatal DIVA scoring tool and algorithm, she as been able to increase first attempt success. She was recognized by receiving the Patient Impact award and Shine award in 2019. Angela has served on the D-Team for AVA and with the PediNeoSig serving as a past chair and now chair advisor. She has contributed to several publications including the PediNeoSig PICC insertion course book. Angela lectures on CLABSI reduction in the NICU at local, national, and international conferences.
