Gillian Ray-Barruel, RN, PhD is a Senior Research Fellow with the Alliance for Vascular Access Teaching and Research (AVATAR) group at the University of Queensland and Griffith University, Australia. She is Associate Editor for the journal Infection, Disease and Health. Following on from a successful career in critical care nursing and project management, Gillian has 14 years of vascular access research experience, with an emphasis on peripheral intravenous catheter assessment and clinical decision making. She is also the creator of the I-DECIDED device assessment and decision tool, which has appeared in several nursing and medical textbooks and has been translated into multiple languages.
