Dr Claire Rickard (RN PhD) works at the University of Queensland and Metro North Health in Brisbane, Australia. She focuses on preventing infections and other complications for people with all types of vascular access device, and established the Alliance for Vascular Access Teaching and Research (AVATAR) in 2007. Dr Rickard has published >300 journal articles and is inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and the American Academy of Nursing. Dr Rickard wrote the foreword to the 2021 INS Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice.
