Jessica Alicdan is a certified Infection Preventionist (IP) at UC San Diego Health. As a recognized professional consultant, she has assisted healthcare facilities nationally and internationally to improve practices. She has a Masters of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and undergraduate degrees in Molecular Cell Biology and Biotechnology. Passionate for science, she is involved in observational research to advance the science in infection prevention. She enjoys collaborating with nurse educators to prevent bloodstream infections in her organization and precepting interns to provide valuable experience while inspiring the future generation of IPs. As of 2022, Jessica was elected Education Chair in San Diego and Imperial County APIC Board Chapter and in 2023, President-Elect for California APIC Coordinating Council (CACC). Jessica has recently launched the first IP Mentorship Program in San Diego, California and plans to expand the opportunity across all APIC chapters in California through CACC.
