Andrew C. Bulmer, PhD

Dr Bulmer is a Professor of Pathophysiology in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Griffith University on the Gold Coast, Australia. As co-lead of the AVATAR group, Dr Bulmer has the responsibility of co-ordinating the activities of researchers and clinicians, who specialise in vascular access procedures and research. Dr Bulmer's specific areas of research involve understanding the human body's response to insertion and maintenance of vascular access devices, using tools including haematology, biochemistry and ultrasound imaging. These approaches have greatly improved our understanding of the impact of cannulation and have helped to improve device design and practice with the goal of making vascular access complications history.
