Hospital procedures, like vascular access device placement, tunneled catheter removal, lumbar puncture, and paracentesis, are some of the procedures associated with diagnosing and treating cancer care. Most commonly, these procedures are done in Interventional radiology or Operating room, which requires scheduling. To answer the gap in care, an APP-led Team performing hospital procedures were created to see patients in an ambulatory clinic (scheduled and walk-in) and in the inpatient setting. As a result, the team's development contributed to minimizing delays in care, decreasing patient financial costs, less restrictive scheduling, and improving patient experience.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the roles, functions, and impact of an APP-led team in performing procedures at the bedside
Describe how positive outcomes are achieved through ongoing assessment, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives.
Recognize the importance of interprofessional collaboration in performing hospital procedures, especially in the outpatient setting
